For many families, the questions do not end once the surgery is over. Parents often wonder how thinking, learning, and behavior may change as their child grows and faces new academic challenges. This session focuses on the vital role of ongoing neuropsychological evaluations in the years following epilepsy surgery.

Dr. Karen Evankovich will explain how cognitive skills (specifically reading, working memory, and executive functioning) evolve across childhood and adolescence. You will learn why repeat testing is often recommended to track progress and how these results can be used to secure specific school accommodations and supports. The session will include practical examples of how to manage "real-world" hurdles like processing speed, mental fatigue, and focus.

A parent or young adult will share how neuropsychological findings have shown up in real life, including school experiences, challenges, and strategies that have helped. Families will leave with a clearer understanding of how to use neuropsychological information to advocate for their child and support learning over the long term.
