About me
Randi Turner has spent her career acting as a bridge between complex state policies and the real-world needs of the people they serve. As the Accessibility and Disability Rights Coordinator for the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, Randi’s work is rooted in the belief that advocacy is most effective when it is informed by the lived experiences of individuals and their families. She serves as a vital link to the state legislature, translating the everyday challenges of Texans into actionable recommendations for the Governor’s office.
With a professional foundation spanning nearly twenty years in the Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, Randi brings a specialized expertise in communication access and disability rights. She is a nationally certified American Sign Language interpreter and a recognized authority on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Her work often takes her into the heart of Texas communities, both urban and rural, where she addresses critical gaps in transportation, mobility, and local resources.
Randi’s commitment to equality earned her the prestigious LBJ Award for her contributions to the deaf community, yet her approach remains grounded in a personal dedication to service. A graduate of Texas State University who completed her degree as a non-traditional student, she understands that the path to success is rarely a straight line. By combining technical mastery of disability law with a deep-seated empathy for the families she supports, Randi ensures that the push for accessibility is always centered on dignity, inclusion, and the right to lead an independent life.
